I'm fine with a hot Tabata over Snider too. Not so much with Gabby over GFJ. And I really don't mind sitting Pedro whenever Hurdle has a mind to (just not for Inge).

when the line up was posted on facebook there where a lot of people putting down having pedro and the fort in the lineup. Wonder how they feel about it now :-) Though i would agree Martin has been hot and had to be tough to decide to give a day off

Snider is the guy in RF right now - he's going to stay there until he cools off. Presley may or may not be slightly better than Tabata, but there isn't much use for Presley because he's a lefty. Snider will sit against lefties, and it wouldn't make sense to platoon him with another lefty.

Am I the only one who thinks an outfield of Presley in LF, McCutchen in CF, and Marte in RF is the best everyday option for our Bucs ? Sorry Tabata, but feel AAA is where you belong right now.

Hopefully cutch's slump breaks soon. I noticed his stance changed this year... don't think it is helping so far.

Yeah, i got excited when marte was hit and the ump signaled for ejection... then i realized it was Bell and nearly flipped my lid. Timmons clearly wasn't happy with the pirates yesterday. It sucks but that is baseball.

I hope they bring irwin back for the weekend, in the Long relief spot or 5th starter. I want to see him again, but who ever they bring up is bound to do better than Sanchez did the last few outings.

Agreed all around. I'd prefer Irwin over Sanchez at this point, and would like to see the Fort get some more AB's when he's hot. Like you said, Martin should come around. McKenry is probably at his best when he's used sparingly.

Irwin scared me, but could've been worse. I wouldn't mind seeing him back for another round or two if a spot opens up to see if it was just 'one of those days'. He was facing a decent lineup and his first start, anyone could have some nerves.

that homerun/non-homerun is frustrating... lucky it really didn't make a difference other than Sniders Stats, bet that fan feels like an idiot.

I think they should be starting 'The Fort' a little more often until Martin comes around an extra day here or there. I'm not impressed at all with Russell so far, granted it is still way early.

The Pen stumbled a bit but i don't think it is anything to worry about. Can't be prefect all the time.

Over all It was a great series for the Bucs,

Typical Bucco ending! First four men in the ninth all get on base after waiting out Marmol for several pitches! Two runs in, nobody out, men on first and third! Wow, Pedro and Neil coming up! Looks like a winning rally right? NOPE! Pedro swings and misses the first pitch, takes a another strike right down the middle and then, swings at a ball in the dirt for strike 3? Way to go Pedro! It's okay though, Neil is coming up, hometown boy and a great pitch waiter! Guess what? He swings AT THE FIRST PITCH, perfect ground ball to the second baseman, 4 - 6 - 3???????!!!!!!! Ball game over!! Nice going Neil, you sure WAITED out that pitcher! Bucs lose 3-2! Oh well, Clint will say it's only the third game of the season, you can't win them all and will say "hey, its not my fault, I can't hit for them! I made the moves and then put in three more packs of gum in his mouth and walk away, blowing bubbles as he goes......................

Personally, I don't see why they did not sign him in the first place. It was an accident that caused him to be unable to pass the physical. I think that with Ray Searage's guidance he will have and ERA from 3.25 to at worst 4.40.

Tabata is a sunk cost and shouldn't be on the roster. I had a minor heart attack every time he was picked off last year; the guy is fat and slow. Sands could be good. I'm hoping Marte shows better plate discipline.

You might be underestimating Sands but your insights on Melancon are dead on. The only thing I would add regarding his performance last year is an intangible that's hard to measure. Melancon was in Valentine's doghouse and he left him out to hang on several occasions when he should have been taken out earlier.

Ha - we know that won't be happening, at least not soon. As good as Marte's defensive rep was coming through the minors, I don't have a problem with giving him some more time in LF (also big at PNC). I agree he should probably switch with Cutch eventually but would let him play a full year in the OF first.
